Here is a list of people attending this spring. Amber had to cancel--we will miss her!! In case you were wondering about the screen print. I will have some of the screens from previous retreats (I have a really cute one with a fox!) and I also have two new screens this year.
The two screens could be used together with 2 different colors---or you could just use one. (I have the design, the screen and the materials ready, I just haven't actually made the screens yet, I am doing that this weekend, and I will post an example on the FB page when I have one ready). As far as ink colors---hot pink (new!), metallic pink, metallic blue, white (new), black, green, orange, gold, brown. You can bring anything fabric to print on---t-shirt, tote bag, pillow case, or even just scrapbook paper. The screen print is free and I will demonstrate how to do it on Saturday afternoon. It is a fun keepsake from the weekend! Screen 1 is the 'step away from the screen---go make something.' Screen 2 is a big pair of scissors--very versatile!

Hello! I just got off the phone with Kevin, the campground director. I had sent him a message last week about the menu, and hadn't heard back, so I just emailed him again today. He called me from the hospital waiting room. His poor wife has been really sick this year, and actually just had knee surgery!! But--he is meeting with the new cook tomorrow to finalize the menu and he will email me in the next few days to confirm. Here is what I know: 1. Kevin is meeting with the new cook tomorrow. The new cook has experience with Camp Quality and the Writer's guild camps at the campground--so I am sure she will be great and she is familiar with the facility. She has a team of two other women on staff to help her prepare the meals. 2. Kevin creates the menu based on what is already in stock, what is fairly easy to order in bulk, and what the chef is comfortable preparing for a large group. 3. Kevin admittedly is a 'meat and potatoes guy' so he doesn't have any knowledge of vegan or vegetarian cuisine. I do my best to suggest things to him, but he considers a salad bar to be 'covering' the bases for vegetarian and vegan entrees. Note: The campground doesn't do well in the way of sauces and condiments that are appropriate for vegetarian and vegan dishes. I'm sorry about that, but I don't have a lot of control over that, our money is budgeted based on what is realistic to prepare for 45 people, and the budget only goes so far for specialty items. Feel free to bring your own stash of stuff if you are worried--I don't want anyone to go hungry! 4. We have found that it is better to request fruit for dessert---instead of a big cake or cookies---since so many people bring candy and snacks to share. Believe me--the fruit is an amazing option and saves the cook a lot of time! The picture above is a favorite of mine: 'snack soup'.....I like to mix all my snacks in a bowl while I munch-craft-munch. 5. Since we don't budget for a meal on Friday---and so many people are coming down early in the day, Kevin has offered to grill burgers and make oven fries for a low price of $4 if you want to bring some cash and don't want to leave to grab dinner. YAY!! 6. Here is the tentative menu for Saturday and Sunday: Breakfast both days: eggs, biscuits, gravy, sausage or bacon, oatmeal and toppings, fruit Lunch: Breaded baked chicken tenders, mashed potatoes, vegetable, salad bar, fruit Dinner: 25lb smoked beef roast, baked potato, salad bar, vegetable, fruit *Subject to change after the meeting tomorrow...so no guarantees.... |
